Besides being able to adjust grade column width (no more abbreviating assignment names, right?), the gradebook includes the following options:

  • Filter your course roster by section (if you have multiple sections in your course)
  • Manually enter student grades
  • View a report of all historical grade changes
  • See assignments grouped by type or by due date
  • Automatically calculate total and final grades
  • Assign zeros after deadline (this will send a notification out to students)
  • Download or upload scores (via .csv file)
  • Quickly determine which submissions were late (cells will be highlighted in red)
  • Create custom weighting and grade ranges.

Best Time to Mute Grades
Before a course begins, go into the gradebook
and MUTE all assignments. Then, unmute them
as you grade to release the grades to students.

But Wait, There's More...

All graded assignments, discussions, and quizzes will have an associated gradebook column. Under each column, there are even MORE options.

  • View assignment details (i.e. high score, low score, average, number of submissions, grade distribution)
  • Message students who haven’t submitted an assignment yet.
  • Message students who scored more than X or less than Y on an assignment.
  • Set default grades for an assignment
  • Curve Grades for an assignment
  • Mute/UnMute Grades (aka block students from viewing their grades until they are released)

But we realize, you instructors have ultimate say and control. At the very end of the day, you can always override any grade or change any score in the gradebook. Boo-yah!
